KP task force charts plan for Peshawar’s modernization

Chief Secretary Directs Fixes for Outsourced Medical Centers

PESHAWAR:A high-level meeting for the development of Peshawar was held on Saturday, chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah. The meeting involved the task force formed by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and was attended by provincial secretaries, the Peshawar Commissioner, and heads of key departments like the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) and Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP).

The task force’s purpose is to coordinate development projects across various departments in the city. Key decisions were made to improve Peshawar’s infrastructure and services. It was decided that the beautification and cleanliness of the city would be treated as a top priority, with all relevant departments working together.

To prevent urban flooding, the forum directed that a coordinated campaign with WSSP be launched to clean all drainage channels before the rainy season. For traffic problems, the completion of the ring road and its linkages was given top priority to reduce congestion and improve travel for citizens.

The PDA Director General announced that packages for a city-wide beautification project are ready and will be implemented soon. He also informed the meeting that the authority will shift all its payments to a cashless system by December and become paperless in its internal affairs by September 30th.

To improve public service, the meeting decided to formally notify all PDA service delivery measures and establish an effective call-back system to monitor complaints. Suggestions were also made to outsource water and sanitation services for better efficiency and to introduce regular open courts and an AI-based system for citizens to register complaints, aiming to restore public confidence.

The Chief Secretary urged all stakeholders to work collectively and ensure timely progress to transform Peshawar into a modern, safe, and more livable city.
