PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Spokesperson Barrister Dr. Saif strongly criticised the federal government for leaving the province to handle terrorism alone.
In a statement, Barrister Saif said terrorism is a national issue that demands a united response from all levels of government.
Barrister Dr. Saif stated, “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on the frontlines in the fight against terrorism, but this is not just the province’s problem; it is a challenge for the entire country.” He stressed the need for national unity to effectively combat the growing menace.
He also called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior to take immediate and practical actions to address terrorism both internally and externally. “The federation must wake up and act,” Dr. Saif added.
Barrister Saif said that “It is crucial to engage with Afghanistan to control terrorism, yet the federation is neither initiating talks nor allowing us to do so.”
The spokesperson said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is deeply concerned over rising terrorist incidents.
Criticising the federal government, he said that the centre had put the terms of reference (TORs) for talks with Afghanistan on hold. The federal government is not taking the issue of terrorism seriously.
Dr. Saif called for a solid strategy from the federal government, urging it not to sit idle while terrorism spreads.
He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the people and security forces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the fight against terrorism.
