PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mpox tally reached eight on Thursday after another case was reported in Peshawar.
According to the Public Health Section of the Health Department, a 31-year-old patient was declared a suspect during screening at Peshawar Airport before leaving for Dubai.
According to the Health Department spokesperson, the patient’s samples were sent to the Public Health Reference Laboratory at Khyber Medical University, where the patient was confirmed to have MPax virus after testing.
According to sources, the said patient returned to Pakistan on April 16. After confirmation, the patient was immediately shifted to the isolation ward of the Police Services Hospital.
The Public Health Section has issued a formal letter to the DHO Khyber for contact tracing and surveillance to prevent the possible spread of the virus.
