CM Gandapur Unveils "Drug-Free Peshawar" Campaign to Combat Substance Abuse

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Khan Gandapur chaired the 27th provincial cabinet meeting in which he highlighted his government’s one-year achievements.

The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, chief secretary, additional chief secretary, and other senior officials.

The Chief Minister praised the government’s performance over the past year. He revealed that when they assumed power, only 15 days’ worth of salary funds remained in the treasury. Now, the treasury holds a surplus of over Rs 150 billion.

Gandapur emphasized that the government did not impose new taxes or increase existing rates. Despite this, provincial revenue grew by over 50%.

He highlighted the revival of the Sehat Card, which was initially suspended. The scheme’s rates increased by 30%, and reforms saved Rs 900 million to Rs 1 billion per month.

The government cleared Rs 87 billion in arrears and created a Rs 30 billion Debt Management Fund. Public welfare initiatives under the Ehsaas Program have also begun.

The province launched a Rs 18 billion transmission line project to provide cheap electricity to industries. A flagship solarization project is underway, converting homes, schools, hospitals, and government offices to solar energy.

Gandapur assured that there had been no delays in salary or pension payments. The government did not take loans or accumulate arrears in the past year. It also released an additional Rs 30 billion for development projects.

He reaffirmed that all postings follow merit, and no political interference will be tolerated.

Key Decisions in Cabinet Meeting

  • Judicial Reforms: Approval of a Judicial Officers Welfare Fund bill and funds for a Judicial Academy in Regi Model Town.
  • Education & Youth Support: Funds approved for an auditorium in Abbottabad Public School and Startup Award assistance for IM Sciences students.
  • Welfare Projects: Financial aid sanctioned for State Children’s Institute, Omid Special Education School, and Ayesha Foundation for special children.
  • Sports Development: Funds allocated for KP athletes participating in the National Games in Karachi.
  • Legislative Approvals: Green light given for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Trade Testing Board Draft Bill 2025.
  • Healthcare: Approval of a CEO appointment for the Faculty of Paramedics and Allied Health Sciences.

The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to transparency, resource optimization, and public welfare.
