Kundi urges strategic dialogue to address KP-federal tensions

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi met with Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Neil Hawkins at the Governor’s House.
The meeting discussed matters related to law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, economic situation, issues of merged districts, challenges of climate change and promotion of sports, especially encouraging women athletes.
The two leaders also discussed promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, trade, agriculture and tourism.
On this occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been a victim of terrorism for a long time. The police and security forces have rendered valuable professional services for the eradication of terrorism and establishment of peace.
The Governor said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a province rich in natural resources, and there are some issues with the province’s federation, which can be resolved with comprehensive planning and strategy.
He also suggested to the Australian High Commissioner to increase scholarships in Australian educational institutions for talented youth of the province.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that education is a fundamental tool for achieving a peaceful society, and as the governor, he is taking vigorous steps to bring the youth of the province forward in the field of education and sports.
He said that steps are being taken to expand the scope of services of the Red Crescent in the province, and a free ambulance service has been started in Peshawar under the Red Crescent, which will be expanded to all areas of the province, including the merged districts.
Speaking on environmental challenges, the governor said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is most vulnerable to climate change due to the large number of glaciers in the province.
Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins appreciated the governor’s vision regarding scholarships for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa students and the promotion of modern technology.
He said that Australia is fully committed to promoting sports, especially women’s participation.
