Landikotal residents, transporters suffer as Pak-Afghan Highway bridges unbuilt

Unfinished Bridges on Pak-Afghan Highway Disrupt Life in Landi Kotal

LANDI KOTAL: Residents and transporters in Khyber’s Landi Kotal are facing severe disruptions due to incomplete bridges on the Pak-Afghan Highway, worsened by ongoing monsoon rains.

Despite the highway’s smooth road construction, the absence of bridges halts traffic during rains, causing delays for students, patients, and cross-border trade.

A local student told Pakhtun Digital that the lack of bridges forces frequent school closures. A truck driver added that delays lead to legal complications for transporters, urging the National Highway Authority (NHA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to expedite construction.

“This isn’t just a local road—it’s an international trade route,” a resident emphasized, noting that hundreds of vehicles use it daily for Afghanistan-bound goods.

Locals say the approved bridges remain unfinished, disproportionately affecting students and medical emergencies. They demand immediate action to resolve the issue.
