HARIPUR: A Leopard entered settlements in the Khanpur area of Haripur and killed several goats of the local people here on Tuesday.
The entry of a wild leopard into the upper settlement of Chiskalan in Khanpur has caused severe panic among the local population. The leopard attacked two houses and killed several valuable goats, while also attempting to attack a local citizen.
According to eyewitnesses, the leopard entered the village at night and attacked the cattle shed of a poor farmer and killing several goats. During the attack, when a local tried to intervene, the leopard tried to pounce on him, but the noise of the villagers frightened the leopard and fled towards the nearby forest.
Locals say that this is not the first incident. Earlier, a father and son were injured in a tiger attack, while dozens of cattle were killed by wild animals.

Residents of the area have complained that due to a lack of food in the forest, wild lions, leopards and bears turn to nearby hill villages and the cattle of poor farmers become their easy prey.
Locals have demanded that the Wildlife Department and the district administration take immediate steps, monitor the movement of wild animals, and ensure the safety of the local population to avoid such deadly incidents.
