A high-level meeting regarding the provision of sanitation vehicles to all Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) was held on Thursday, with Minister for Local Government (LG) Arshad Ayub Khan in the chair.
The meeting was attended by Secretary of Local Government Saqib Raza Aslam, representatives of the Local Council Board, and officials from various TMAs.
During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the procurement procedure for sanitation vehicles through TMAs. It was informed that standard specifications approved by the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) would be provided to the TMAs. The purchase of company-fitted tractor trolleys, tractors with front loaders, and backhoes will be carried out directly from original manufacturers or authorised dealers, in accordance with KPPRA rules. Similarly, chassis for mini tippers will be procured through the same procedure, while contracts for body fabrication will be awarded through open bidding.
The Minister for Local Government stated that this process would not only ensure timely and high-quality procurement but also guarantee after-sales services and eliminate low-quality suppliers. He directed the concerned officials to maintain complete transparency, integrity, and strict adherence to quality standards throughout the procurement process, enabling TMAs to become more effective and deliver better public services.
