The world-famous technology company Google has been hit by a major cyber-attack, affecting 2.5 billion Gmail users.

According to Google, the attack was carried out between August 8 and 18, in which hackers used compromised Open Authorisation (OAuth) tokens to gain access to accounts globally. The attack was not limited to individual Gmail accounts, but also infiltrated the Salesforce database.

According to the Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG), the hacker group UNC6395 is involved in this incident, which has been known to target Salesforce users in the past. The hackers carried out this attack using compromised tokens from the Salesforce Drift app.

Internet users around the world are warned, 16 billion login details have fallen into the hands of hackers. Although this enterprise-level break has been removed, Google has instructed all individual Gmail users to be careful and take immediate security measures.

Which says that you should perform a security check-up and fix problems in the account, have a strong password that includes special symbols and numbers, enable two-factor authentication, log out of unfamiliar devices immediately, remove access to suspicious third-party apps, monitor recent Gmail logins and activity, and do not open any suspicious links or attachments. Google says that by following these instructions, the chances of avoiding a major cyber attack in the future will be significantly reduce.
