PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Policy Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Nausherwan Burki chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the improvement and management of medical institutions.
As per details, Prof. Dr. Nausherwan Burki visited Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) and chaired the meeting of the Policy Board and made some important decisions to improve the health sector.
The discussion focused on improving medical institutions, ensuring transparency, and expanding healthcare services.
Key points such as health sector reforms, transparency, merit-based appointments, expansion of medical facilities and quality improvement were discussed in the meeting. During this time, several important issues were considered, including:
- Selection of candidates for the Institute of Kidney Diseases (IKD)
- Establishment of a separate Board of Governors for the Khyber Institute of Child Health
- Transfer of liver and kidney transplant surgeries from Khyber Teaching Hospital to the Institute of Kidney Diseases
- Open selection for faculty appointments in Khyber Girls Medical College
- Merging the Burn and Trauma Unit with HMC.
- Operations of the Internal Audit Team and quality assurance measures
- Resolution of pending financial matters of consultants under the Sehat Sahulat Program
- Increase in the share of consultants and improvement in the Sehat Sahulat Program package
Dr. Nausherwan Barki said on the occasion that bringing transparency, making merit-based decisions and provision of modern medical facilities in the healthcare institutions are among the top priorities of the Health Policy Board.
He expressed his determination that the reform measures will not only improve the performance of the institutions but also guarantee quality medical facilities to the patients. He reaffirmed his commitment to modernizing healthcare and top-quality treatment for patients.
The participants of the meeting appreciated the efforts of Hayatabad Medical Complex to provide better health facilities and introduce positive changes in the medical sector.
