Major oil and gas reserve discovered in Attock

ATTOCK: Pakistan Petroleum Limited announced the discovery of a large oil and gas reserve in the Attock district of Punjab, which would contribute to enhancing the production of oil and gas in the country.

The Pakistan Petroleum Limited, in a statement, stated that 1469 barrels of oil and 2.56 MMCF of gas will be produced daily from the Dhok Sultan-03 well located in Attock. The statement said that the historic discovery in the Dhok Sultan block is an important milestone not only for PPL and its partner, Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL).

It was further stated that PPL, as the operator in the Dhok Sultan block, started drilling Dhok Sultan-03 on January 18, 2025, with a 75% share and a GHPL 25% business partnership, and drilled to a depth of 5815 meters.

It is to mentioning here that earlier to this, OGDCL has completed the Jhal Magsi gas development project in the Jhal Magsi district of Balochistan. An OGDCL spokesperson said that the project was completed on a fast-track basis on the instructions of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. OGDCL wrote a letter to the stock exchange announcing the successful completion and inauguration of the Jhal Magsi development project.

According to the spokesperson, the Jhal Magsi project is producing 14 million cubic feet of gas per day and 45 barrels of oil per day. The gas produced from Jhal Magsi has been added to the main pipeline network of SSGCL.
