ISLAMABAD: As a result of a major drop in petroleum crude oil prices in the global market in 11 days, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority is likely to give major relief to the public from August 16, 2025.

US crude oil has become cheaper by $5.71 in the global market in the last 11 days, and crude oil trading per barrel has decreased from $69.26 to $63.48. British Brent price per barrel has decreased by $5.72 in 11 days as it is trading at $65.98 per barrel from $71.70.

In Pakistan, the Prices of petroleum products in the country will be revised on August 15. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority will send the final working of price determination to the Finance Ministry on August 15. The federal government is authorised to increase or decrease the prices of petroleum products.

A notification will be issued by the Finance Ministry after the approval of the Prime Minister, and after the approval, the new prices will be applicable from August 16 to 31.

The repeated increase in petroleum products has badly affected the citizens of the country, as with a minor increase, the prices of goods increase manifold, which directly hits the end users. If the government slashes the prices of petroleum products, it would ensure relief in transport fares and other edible items.
