Major storm blackouts Dera Ismail Khan, flood alert issued

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Powerful storms and heavy rains battered Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas throughout the night, causing significant damage and panic among residents.

The severe weather brought wind gusts reaching speeds of 90 to 100 kilometers per hour. The downpour has also raised concerns about potential flooding in low-lying regions.

The storm’s impact has been severe. Multiple trees were uprooted and electricity poles fell, forcing power companies to shut down several feeders. This has resulted in a widespread blackout, plunging the entire city into darkness.

Local authorities have sprung into action. Rescue 1122 and the district administration have deployed emergency teams across the area to respond to any crisis situations. The public has been advised to stay indoors and avoid all non-essential travel.

The farming community is facing serious anxiety, fearing that the intense rain and wind may have severely damaged standing crops.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert, warning that more rain and strong winds are expected. Citizens are urged to contact the rescue helpline in case of any emergency.
