Manshera police arrest suspect in minor girl assault case

 

MANSEHRA: Mansehra police on Tuesday arrested an accused on the identification of a minor girl (victim) for attempting assault and murder. The accused had made attempts to assault the minor girl.

According to the details, on March 19, 2025 wife of Fayyaz Khan, resident of Sharkolai in Chattar Plain, filed a report at the Battal police station that her 08-year-old daughter (A) had gone missing. As soon as the incident was reported, DPO Mansehra Shafiullah Gandapur took immediate notice and ordered SP City Resham Jahangir to take action. On which, SHO Battal police station Shujat Hussain, under the supervision of DSP Shankyari Qazi Majid Naseem, immediately registered a case and continued the search operation throughout the night with his team.

On March 20, 2025, at around 10:30 am, information was received that the girl was lying injured under stones in the forest near her house. The police immediately rescued the girl and took her to the hospital for medical assistance.

Considering the seriousness of the incident, the police started an investigation from every angle and immediately got the girl medically examined, in which no kind of abuse was confirmed. After the girl regained consciousness, when the police found out the details, a suspect, Sohrab, son of Akhtar Zeb, resident of Chhatar Plain, Shirkolai, was included in the investigation. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and revealed that he lured the girl and tried to rape her by taking her to the forest. Still, when the girl failed to tell everything, the accused attacked her with a stone, injured her, threw her into the drain and placed a heavy stone on top.

DPO Mansehra Shafiullah Gandapur congratulated the police team for the timely action and said that the elements involved in such heinous crimes will be brought to justice and they will be made a symbol of education. He added that the police are taking all possible steps to protect children, and parents should keep a check on their children.
