PESHAWAR: The Mardan district administration and Abdul Wali Khan University organised a tree plantation drive at main campus of the University on Tuesday.
The event was jointly organised by Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and district administration. The aim of the spring tree plantation campaign was to promote environmental sustainability and awareness.
The drive was led by the Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmed, and Vice Chancellor Professor Zahir Shah.
Deputy Commissioner Mardan Dr. Azmatullah Wazir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance and Planning Syed Fahad Iftikhar, District Youth Officer, DSO, and DFO also participated.
Officials personally planted trees, reinforcing their commitment to a greener future. With joint efforts from the district and university administrations, 3,000 saplings have been planted successfully.
On this occasion, Commissioner Nisar Ahmed said that plantation is vital for combating climate change. He urged citizens to plant at least five trees each and care for them. “A greener Pakistan means a healthier future,” he stated.
The administration also distributed saplings among university students and local landowners. This move aims to expand the campaign beyond institutions and encourage public participation.

The initiative seeks to create a lush, green environment while reducing climate change effects. Officials reaffirmed their vision for a clean and green Pakistan, calling on citizens to play their part.
