MARDAN: A wanted drug dealer was injured and arrested after an exchange of fire with police during a routine patrol in Mardan.
According to police officials, ASI Safdar and ASI Arab Ali, along with SHO City Police Station Abdul Salam Khan, were conducting a foot patrol near Muslim Colony on Canal Road when they spotted a suspicious man carrying a pistol. Upon seeing the police, the suspect opened fire. The officers returned fire, injuring the suspect, who was later identified as Sartaj, son of Syedul Amin, a resident of Aminabad Canal Road.
Police recovered a pistol and two cartridges from the scene. The injured suspect was taken to Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) Hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that Sartaj was a notorious drug dealer with over 10 pending drug cases across different police stations in Mardan. He was reportedly a major player in the city’s drug trade and posed a serious threat to public safety.
Further investigations are ongoing, and police are working to track down his possible accomplices.
