Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called for national unity amid tensions with India.
Speaking on the matter, Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that India is trying to shift the blame for its failed internal security onto Pakistan. He emphasised that Pakistan-India relations are going through a rough patch, and Pakistan must stay united to protect its sovereignty.
Rehman condemned India’s baseless allegations and warned that Pakistan would give a “befitting reply” if the situation escalated. He emphasised the need for national unity to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty. The National Security Committee’s decisions have lifted the morale of the people.
The tensions between Pakistan and India have been rising since the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which killed 26 people near a tourist resort in Indian-Occupied Kashmir. India responded by suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, closing diplomatic channels, and ordering Pakistani diplomats to leave the country. Pakistan denied any involvement in the attack and retaliated by suspending visas for Indian citizens, expelling Indian diplomats, and closing its airspace to India.
The United Nations has called for maximum restraint from both countries, sparking fears of growing conflicts between the two neighbours. Maulana Fazal’s statement aims to boost national unity and remind the public that Pakistan stands strong in the face of external pressure.
