Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman declared that anyone who takes up arms against the state is a terrorist and must be eliminated.
Speaking at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security on Tuesday, he stressed that terrorism has no religion or sect and called on the political leadership and the nation to unite in eradicating terrorism without hesitation.
Rehman expressed disappointment over the absence of the Tehreek-e-Insaf party at the meeting, stating that he would have advised them to attend if consulted.
A member of parliament since 1988, Rehman reiterated his commitment to the constitution and stressed the need for political unity to combat terrorism, setting aside partisan differences.
He honoured those who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism, calling them a source of national pride.

Rehman also drew a clear distinction between martyrs and terrorists, stating, “I will call the teacher a martyr, but I cannot call the one who kills him a mujahid.”
He noted that religious scholars from various schools of thought have already issued fatwas against terrorism, and he reaffirmed that anyone who takes up arms against the state is a terrorist.
Rehman concluded by reiterating that terrorism transcends religious or sectarian boundaries and urged collective action to eliminate it decisively.
