Minister promises to resolve legitimate demands of Bhasha dam affectees

Amir Muqam vows to bring Punjab-style reforms to KP

DIAMER: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON and President of PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Muqam said on Sunday that the legitimate demands of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam and Dasu Dam would be addressed.

The federal minister paid a one-day visit to Chilas on Sunday, where he was warmly welcomed by Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr Gulbar Khan, provincial ministers and other senior government officials.

He further stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a special committee in this regard which is carefully reviewing matters related to both power projects.

Engineer Amir Muqam said that the development of Gilgit-Baltistan is among the top priorities of the government and 30 per cent more funds have been allocated compared to the previous year.

Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also announced Danish schools which will be inaugurated after Eidul-filter in the area.

The Federal Minister appealed to the power projects affectees to form their committee hold talks with the government committee and end the sit-in for the time being.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr Gulbar Khan, also appealed to end the sit-in, while the head of the victims’ committee has sought time to respond after consultation.
