NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign to spread anti-Muslim sentiment is firmly rejected by the Indian public.
In the wake of the Pahalgam false flag operation, where initial narratives sought to blame Kashmiri Muslims, ground realities and public response have exposed the failure of the government’s divisive agenda.
According to sources, the Modi government attempted to stoke Hindu-Muslim tensions by targeting Kashmiri Muslims, branding them as terrorists without evidence. In Uttarakhand, several mosques and homes belonging to Muslims were demolished under the guise of counterterrorism operations. Bulldozers were deployed to carry out mass demolitions, sparking outrage among human rights groups and civil society.
However, Indian tourists who were present during the Pahalgam attack have contradicted the government’s narrative. Talking to media outlets, many praised the compassion and bravery of Kashmiri Muslims, who helped save the lives of stranded tourists, sheltered them, and ensured their safety during the chaos.
Witness accounts highlighted how local Kashmiris set an example of humanity, rejecting the divisive image painted by political forces.
Political analysts believe Modi’s strategy of using religious hatred as a political tool is increasingly backfiring.
