ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with U.S. Acting Ambassador Natalie Baker on Wednesday to discuss the deteriorating regional security landscape in the wake of India’s recent airstrikes.
Held in Islamabad, the meeting was also attended by U.S. Political Counselor Zack Harkinrider and Pakistan’s Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry.
Minister Naqvi provided a detailed briefing on the fallout from the Indian attack, expressing Pakistan’s deep concerns about the incident and its threat to regional peace. He warned that India’s actions have jeopardized the stability of South Asia.
“India has endangered peace in the region,” Naqvi said, adding, “Targeting civilians is a clear violation of international law and an assault on regional harmony.”
He underscored that Pakistan responded with restraint despite the provocation but made it clear that its peaceful approach should not be mistaken for weakness. “Our response was firm and proportionate, aimed at defending our sovereignty,” he stated. “National security is non-negotiable.”
Naqvi also shared that Pakistan had proactively warned friendly nations about India’s escalating posture before the latest incident, calling on the international community to recognise and address the destabilising actions.
The meeting is part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach to keep allies informed, reinforce its commitment to peace, and uphold transparency amid rising tensions in the region.
