ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has said that a total of 178 people were killed and 491 injured in various accidents across the country from June 26 to July 17 in monsoon rains-related incidents.
The NDMA released a report on the loss of life and property due to monsoon rains across the country. According to the NDMA, report, Punjab suffered the highest loss of life, where 108 people, including 50 children, lost their lives, while 398 people were injured.
According to the NDMA report, 38 people died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 20 in Sindh, 16 in Balochistan and one person in Azad Kashmir. The report issued by the NDMA said that infrastructure has also been damaged in different areas due to heavy rains, and relief operations are still ongoing.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the NDMA headquarters and he praised the performance of the authority and said that every time he come to NDMA, he saw encouraging progress. The atmosphere of the institution, the use of modern technology and the hard work of the team are commendable.
