ISLAMABAD: The first monsoon rains brought much-needed relief to Islamabad and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Friday, breaking a prolonged heatwave.
Strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy downpours swept through Islamabad and Haripur, significantly lowering temperatures. The Meteorological Department confirmed the rain reduced heat intensity and predicted intermittent showers over the next 24 hours.
While strong winds uprooted trees and knocked down signboards in some areas, no casualties were reported. Residents welcomed the cooler weather, venturing outdoors to enjoy the pleasant conditions. Farmers also hailed the rain as beneficial for crops.
The showers mark the start of the monsoon season, offering respite after weeks of scorching heat.
