Couple shot dead in suspected honour killing in Mardan

PESHAWAR – In a tragic and disturbing incident, the bodies of a mother and daughter belonging to the Christian community were discovered in a house located in Lalazar Christian Colony, within the premises of Peshawar University Campus.

The area, typically considered a quiet and residential part of the city, was shaken by the news of this gruesome double murder. According to local police officials, the deceased have been identified as Ms. (Sh), the mother, and her young daughter, Ms. (K). Early investigations indicate that both victims were murdered several days ago, though the exact time of death is yet to be confirmed by forensic experts.

Police sources revealed that Ms. (Sh) had been living alone with her daughter following a separation from her husband, Waseem, several months prior. The daughter, it is reported, was from Ms. (Sh)’s second marriage. Neighbours stated that the family mostly kept to themselves and did not appear to have any ongoing disputes, though investigators have not ruled out the possibility of personal motives.

The bodies were discovered after neighbours reported a foul odour coming from the home. Upon arrival, police found the door locked from the outside. After breaking in, they found the victims lying inside the house, with signs suggesting they had been murdered and left there for several days.

Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation. A case of double murder has been registered, and police have taken custody of the bodies for autopsy to determine the exact cause and time of death.

Law enforcement officials have also begun analysing mobile phone data and collecting forensic evidence from the scene. Investigators believe that digital and physical clues will be crucial in uncovering the motive and identifying those responsible for the killings.

Police have appealed to the public for any information that might assist in the investigation. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked concern among minority communities in the area, with local leaders calling for swift justice and increased protection. Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
