Motorway Police issues Eid travel safety guidelines

ISLAMABAD: The Motorway Police has issued a set of travel safety guidelines for those planning to journey during the Eid holidays, emphasising the importance of caution to ensure a safe and secure festive period for all.

According to the issued advisory, motorists are urged to thoroughly check their vehicle’s engine oil, water levels, tire condition, air pressure, and brakes before setting off.

The Motorway Police also stressed the importance of wearing seat belts, adhering to speed limits, and maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Drivers are further reminded to follow lane discipline for a smooth and accident-free travel experience.

As part of an awareness campaign, the Motorway Police distributed gifts among travelers on various motorways, encouraging responsible driving practices.

Earlier in March, the Motorway Police launched a crackdown on overspeeding drivers, taking action against 54 violators in the initial phase.

The campaign was conducted across M-3, M-2, M-4, M-5, and the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, according to a police spokesperson.

So far, four cases have been registered on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, while 19 FIRs were lodged against speeding drivers on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2).
