ISLAMABAD: National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) have launched a special campaign against violators especially those involved in careless driving, and over-speeding.
A spokesperson for the Motorway Police said that drivers involved above the approved speed limit will not only be slapped with huge fine but will also be impounded the over-speeding vehicles.
A new order has been issued for those driving at high speeds on the motorway, under which now not only a heavy fine will be imposed on speeding vehicles but the vehicle will also be impounded, it added.
The IG Motorway Police has issued special orders saying that if any driver drives at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour to 150 kilometers per hour, a heavy fine will be imposed against him.
According to the orders, a driver who drives at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour will also have his vehicle impounded and a case will be registered against the driver.
The Motorway Police has also started a special campaign against speeding drivers in this regard. The aim of this campaign is to prevent the public from driving at high speeds on the motorway and reduce accidents on the roads.
The speed limit for cars on the motorway is 120 km/h and for public service vehicles, it is 110 km/h.

The IG Motorway Police has warned all drivers to observe these limits, otherwise they will face strict action.
