The North Waziristan district administration has announced that Major General Adil Iftikhar of the 7th Division has recognised the challenges faced by the local population and has decided to reopen the North Waziristan Pak-Afghan Ghulam Khan border for trade. This border had previously been closed for all types of movement due to a recent surge in terrorist incidents.
Thanks to the efforts of the District Administration, including Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yousuf Karim and Tehsildar Miranshah Ghani Wazir, productive negotiations were held with the Atmanzai Jirga. As a result, the Ghulam Khan border will be opened for trade starting tomorrow, July 16. Major General Adil Iftikhar stated that we are fully aware of the difficulties faced by the people and are taking steps to improve the situation while ensuring their safety.
The reopening of the Ghulam Khan border is expected to create significant employment opportunities for the youth. Additionally, a curfew will be relaxed on an emergency basis, and the internet services will be restored by tonight. Remaining issues will be addressed collaboratively by the Pakistan Army and the members of the Atmanzai National Jirga.
