NA committee seeks PCB report on stadium renovation expenses

Naqvi praises KP Police for thwarting khawarij attacks

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat has directed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to submit a detailed report on expenditures incurred for the renovation of cricket stadiums.

Media reports indicate the committee also requested a comprehensive briefing on the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), including a cost breakdown of the stadium upgrades carried out in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy. Renovations were made at key venues in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi to improve fan experience.

Chairman Naqvi is expected to present the PCB’s six-month performance report during the upcoming committee session.

Notably, PSL X recorded an unprecedented 826.5% spike in live viewership compared to the same period last year, despite coinciding with the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time—a scheduling overlap most boards tend to avoid. The league was moved from its usual February-March window to April due to Pakistan’s preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy.
