ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani expressed deep sorrow over the death of Army Chief COAS General Asim Munir’s mother on Tuesday.
Sadiq said he was deeply saddened by the news and extended his condolences to Gen. Munir and his family. “In this hour of grief, I stand with Gen. Asim Munir and share in his sorrow,” he said.
Gilani said he was shocked by the passing of the army chief’s mother and offered prayers for the deceased. “May Allah grant her the highest ranks in Jannah and give patience to the bereaved family,” he said in a statement.
Both leaders expressed solidarity with Gen. Munir, with Gilani adding, “We stand with him in this difficult time and pray for strength for the family.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condoled the death, praying for the departed soul’s elevated status in the afterlife.
