NAB KP reveals irregularities worth billions of rupees in Gold mining in Nizam Pur river

PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has revealed billion of rupees irregularities in the awarding of the contract for riverside gold mining in Nizam Pur area of Nowshera and has taken the records into its possession.

The Minerals Department has awarded a contract for extracting gold from rivers worth more than six billion rupees for just four billion, which is less than the amount to be fixed for awarding the contract. The NAB official said that they have initiated an investigation into the complaint of an influential contractor.

The affected contractor had bid Rs 06 billion to extract gold from rivers; however, the Minerals Department has awarded the contract to their blue-eyed people on just Rs 04 billion instead of Rs 6 billion, which has caused losses of billions of rupees to the national exchequer.

The NAB has seized the record of the contractor and the Mineral Department and started further investigation.
