MOHMAND: Nahqi Tunnel Park, a multi-crore rupee project inaugurated with fanfare in Mohmand district, now stands dilapidated and abandoned due to government neglect and lack of maintenance.
Local residents report the park is rapidly losing its beauty and usefulness, crumbling into ruins despite the massive public funds invested in its construction. They express deep disappointment that the facility, once a source of pride and recreation, has become deserted solely because proper upkeep was never implemented.
The public is now demanding urgent government intervention. They insist authorities must immediately begin maintaining the park or transfer its management to a competent private contractor to salvage this vital public space. Specific demands include constructing a mosque within the park grounds, installing solar-powered lighting, and restoring reliable water facilities to make the park functional and attractive again.
The park’s decline marks a stark contrast to its high-profile opening in 2019, jointly inaugurated by the then-Prime Minister Imran Khan and a prominent Sheikh from Dubai.
