ISLAMABAD: The nation will celebrate Pakistan Day on Sunday (tomorrow) with a pledge to work for progress and stability.
The day marks the adoption of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940. This resolution paved the way for an independent homeland for South Asian Muslims.
The celebrations will start with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Mosques will hold special prayers after Fajr for prosperity and unity. The national flag will be raised on key government buildings.
PTV and Radio Pakistan will air special programmes. These will highlight the day’s significance and honor Pakistan Movement leaders.
Parade on March 23
The Pakistan Day parade will take place on a smaller scale due to Ramazan. Officials assure it will still reflect national enthusiasm.
The parade will be held at the President’s House. Army, Navy, and Air Force contingents will participate. President Asif Ali Zardari will attend as chief guest. The Air Force will conduct a fly-past, while the Army’s pipe band will perform.
Foreign dignitaries, ambassadors, and other guests will join the event. The government aims to celebrate the day while respecting Ramazan.

Later, Aiwan-e-Sadr will host an investiture ceremony. President Zardari will award medals to individuals for outstanding contributions in various fields.
