National Assembly budget soars to Rs 16.29bn, member pay doubles

ISLAMABAD:  The proposed federal budget allocates significantly more funds to the National Assembly compared to last year, with a substantial portion earmarked for members’ salaries and allowances.

The total allocation for the National Assembly stands at Rs 16.29 billion. Within this, a major increase is proposed for the salaries and allowances of Assembly members, jumping to Rs 5.8 billion. This is nearly double the Rs 2.90 billion allocated for members last year.

Key Allocations
Rs 393.4 million for the offices of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
Rs 83.4 million for the office of the Leader of the Opposition.
Rs 200 million for the Kashmir Committee.
Rs 2.15 billion for the chairmen of the Standing Committees.

This budget reflects a significant rise in funding for the legislative body’s operations and its members’ compensation.
