The Provincial Committee for the National Peace Jirga has agreed to finalise the date for Islamabad march.
An important meeting of the provincial committee of the National Peace Jirga was held today at Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar under the chairmanship of ANP provincial president and committee chairman Mian Iftikhar Hussain, in which consultation regarding the Islamabad march was emphasised. It was decided in the meeting that the next meeting of the committee will be held again the day after tomorrow at Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar, where all the provincial leaders will give the final date for the Islamabad march after consulting their central leaders.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain said in his statement after the meeting that “The seriousness of the jirga can be gauged from the fact that only two days later we called a meeting of the provincial committee and now we are going to announce the Islamabad march the day after tomorrow. We wish that all political parties and movements give a common date so that full strength can be demonstrated in the march.”
The meeting expressed satisfaction over the successful holding of the National Peace Jirga held at Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar, and all political parties paid tribute to the ANP. The members reiterated their resolve to go to all lengths to fully implement the declaration. The meeting also discussed in detail other responsibilities given to the committee regarding the protest. The meeting was attended by leaders of various political parties, including the opposition leaders of the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the Muslim League (N) Dr. Ibadullah Khan and Tariq Awan, Advocate Haider Momand of the Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party, Provincial President of the Mazdoor Kisan Party Adil Mahmood, Provincial Vice President of the PPP Ayub Shah and Akhunzada Chattan, Ameer of the Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shumali Inayatullah Khan, Provincial General Secretary of the JUI-F Senator Maulana Atta-ul-Haq Darwesh, Muhammad Humayun of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Nadeem Askar of the National Democratic Movement and Engineer Haider Zaman of the Awami Workers Party.
