NDMA issues flash flood alerts for various parts across country

Islamabad, parts of KP hit by heavy rains

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert warning of heavy rainfall and possible flooding in various parts of Pakistan between July 11 and July 17.

Heavy rain is forecast in multiple districts, including Jhelum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, and Narowal. Southern Punjab districts like DG Khan, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan may see rising water levels in hill torrents. Flash flooding is also a concern in northeastern Punjab due to runoff from the Pir Panjal mountain range.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), flash flood threats loom over Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mardan, Buner, and Waziristan. Significant water level increases are expected in the Kabul, Swat, Panjkora, and Kulpani rivers. The Kabul River at Nowshera could reach flood stage.

In Balochistan, heavy rains may cause local streams to overflow in areas including Ziarat, Quetta, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Loralai, Musakhel, and Dera Bugti.
