The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Thursday notified a decrease of Rs1.89 in the uniform tariff for the next three months.
NEPRA has approved a reduction in electricity tariffs, under which electricity has been made cheaper by Rs 1.88 per unit for consumers.
This decision has been made in the form of a quarterly fuel cost adjustment for April to June 2025 and will be applicable for three months from August to October 2025.
According to NEPRA, this reduction will provide a total relief of Rs 55 billion 874 million to electricity consumers.
The announcement clarified that the price reduction will apply to all consumers of DISCOs and K-Electric; however, Lifeline and prepaid consumers will not be able to benefit from this discount.
According to NEPRA, a request for a reduction in rates in the quarterly adjustment was received from electricity distribution companies, on which a public hearing was held on August 4. The final decision on the price reduction has now been sent to the federal government.
