Netflix Trials AI-Powered Search to Find Shows Based on Your Mood

Netflix is experimenting with a new search feature powered by OpenAI to help users find shows more easily. According to a report from Bloomberg, the feature will let subscribers search for content using very specific terms—even their current mood—instead of just genres or actor names.

The test is currently available to some iOS users in Australia and New Zealand, with plans to expand to the U.S. in the coming weeks and months. Netflix spokesperson MoMo Zhou told The Verge that the company is still learning from this early beta test and has no immediate plans to bring it to non-iOS devices.

Netflix has been using AI for years to improve recommendations, and co-CEO Greg Peters recently discussed the company’s focus on innovation to enhance both creator storytelling and user experience. OpenAI has not yet commented on the partnership.
