PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has clearly stated that it was the democratic right of the opposition to bring a no-confidence motion against the government in the province and now they would exercise this right.
He said that they had earlier said that opposition would elect five senators, which they have done, now they will show it by no-confidence. In an interview with a private TV channel, Faisal Karim Kundi expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that the government is refusing to accept the fact that law and order have deteriorated in the province. He said that if the provincial government feels the need, it can call in the FC or the army after the 18th Amendment.
Referring to the situation in Kurram, the governor said that the situation there has been bad for a year, but the provincial government has not taken any serious steps. Criticising Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Faisal Kundi said that if he is arresting people and then releasing them on someone’s orders, it means that he does not have a writ. In such a case, he should resign; it is not right to blame others for his failures.
He added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police are certainly talented, but the question is who will provide them with resources and modern facilities? If the army is to be removed, what is the alternative strategy?
The governor also pointed out that there has never been a serious discussion on this deteriorating situation in the provincial assembly, and now it is time for the federation and the province to come on one page and work together.
Regarding the protest movement proposed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on August 05, the governor said, “This is just a show, nothing will happen. The people are now aware, and these dramas will not work anymore.
