ISLAMABAD: Opposition leaders sharply criticized the federal budget today, calling it a failure for ordinary citizens and farmers while alleging it serves IMF demands.
JUI-F lawmaker Alia Kamran*declared the budget offered “no relief for the people,” especially the impoverished. “The deprived section suffers without even bread to eat. We should focus on education and health,”* she stated.
PPP leader Nafisa Shahechoed the criticism, labeling it “neither for the rich nor the poor – it’s the IMF’s budget.” She added, “Today, both rich and poor are disappointed,” though she acknowledged minor positives like reduced inflation and interest rates.
Both leaders highlighted agriculture’s decline, with Kamran warning “agriculture is sinking into darkness”and Shah calling it “stagnant.”
