ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) announcing short flight suspensions on selected days to facilitate Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jet rehearsals for the Independence Day flypast over the capital.
According to officials, the measure aims to ensure air traffic safety during the exercises. Civilian flight arrivals and departures will be paused from 11 am to 1 pm between August 11 and 14, and from 8 pm to 10 pm between August 11 and 13. During these intervals, PAF jets will utilise the capital’s airspace, and civilian aircraft will be unable to take off or land at Islamabad International Airport.
The NOTAM advises airlines and pilots to exercise caution during the rehearsal periods. Outside the specified time slots, flight operations will proceed as normal. The PAA clarified that the airport will not be closed for eight consecutive days, and each suspension will last around two hours.
Travellers are encouraged to confirm flight schedules with their airlines before heading to the airport to avoid delays or inconvenience.
