PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former provincial minister, Shaukat Yousafzai, has claimed he was winning his seat on the election night, but he was defeated after refusing to sign an affidavit to them.
The PTI’s former provincial minister and leader, Shaukat Yousafzai made this claim during a podcast with Pakhtun Digital in Peshawar.
He said despite all the rigging tactics in the last elections, he was winning by 900 votes but he refused to sign the affidavit, hence he was declared a runner-up.
PTI leader claimed that the then deputy commissioner kept trying to convince me till 5:30 early in the morning to submit the affidavit, but he made it clear that he could not go against the party, and could not deceive Imran Khan.
Mr Yousafzai said the deputy commissioner told him that he would be left out of the assembly, however, he made it clear that he would not die if he could not reach the assembly.
He further said that there might have also been such assembly members in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf who would have submitted the affidavit, but a large number of those who reached the assembly after submitting the affidavit were from the other parties and independent members.
In response to a question, he said that after May 9, the situation was such that the party leaders had gone into hiding and only lawyers could come out. Those who made sacrifices in these circumstances should be appreciated.
He further said that there were many leaders who had left the party under compulsion and they still did not speak against the party. Imran Khan will decide the future of these leaders.
