Several injured in Peshawar as storm hits KP and Islamabad

A child died, and 11 people were injured after a windstorm hit Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsada and other parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday evening.

According to the Rescue 1122, women and children were among the injured.

Bilal Ahmed Faizi, a spokesperson for Rescue 1122, provided details on the incidents. The rescue service in Peshawar received reports of roof and wall collapses in Afghan Colony, Asad Anwar Colony, and Rano Ghari, as well as fallen trees near the Civil Quarter and Begum Shahabuddin Girls School due to the severe weather.

In Rano Ghari, a wall collapsed on a 6-year-old nomadic child, killing him instantly. Five other individuals were injured in various incidents and have been transferred to the hospital for medical treatment. Rescue 1122 disaster response teams are actively working to clear fallen trees.

Additionally, in the Charsadda district, a 10-year-old child was injured in a roof collapse. There were also three injuries reported from wall collapses at two locations in Nowshera, and two people were hurt when a tree fell on a motorcyclist.

Power supply has also been affected due to severe storms and storms in Peshawar, with more than 100 feeders tripping.
According to a PESCO spokesperson, 110 feeders were faulty due to the bad weather, which led to power outages.
According to the spokesperson, several grid stations were also tripped due to the storm, but they were immediately restored. The affected areas include Peshawar, Khyber, Swat, Mardan, Swabi, Abbottabad and Mansehra Circle, where power supply has been disrupted.
PESCO officials say that teams are on high alert to restore power, and repair work is underway. In this regard, power transmission is being continuously monitored from the control room.
PESCO has appealed to consumers for cooperation and said that for any complaint related to power outages, the PESCO helpline 118 can be contacted.

According to a spokesperson from Rescue 1122 Peshawar, reports indicate that trees have fallen near Afghan Colony and Begum Shahabuddin Girls School, Tehsil. Two women sustained minor injuries in Afghan Colony; however, the exact number of injured individuals and their conditions have not yet been reported due to the tree falling near the tehsil.

Additionally, there are reports of multiple injuries at a vegetable market caused by falling trees. The injured individuals have been taken to a nearby hospital for first aid.

The Disaster Response Team of Rescue 1122 has been dispatched to the affected areas, and efforts are underway to remove fallen trees from the roads. The storm has disrupted the electricity system in many city areas, resulting in widespread power outages that are severely impacting daily life.
