HARIPUR: An 18-year-old youth died, and including a minor two others suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out in a wheat field near the lake in the Padhana area, within the jurisdiction of Khalabat Police Station in Haripur on Sunday late at night.
According to the initial reports, the deceased was identified as an 18-year-old Shaukat, who succumbed to burn injuries. The injured were identified as a 25-year-old (Z) and a 3-year-old Salmina. All victims belonged to the Mianwali district.
Rescue sources say several cattle have also perished in the blaze.
Upon receiving the alert, Rescue 1122 teams from Haripur, under the direction of District Emergency Officer Rafiullah Marwat, promptly reached the spot. The medical team provided first aid to the injured before transporting them to the trauma centre for further treatment.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and authorities are investigating the incident.
It is said the victims were nomads and living a makeshift huts at the bank of the river, near the lake in Haripur.
