“Opposition can win 5 Senate seats in KP if united,” says JUI leader

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Engineer Zia-ur-Rehman has claimed that a united opposition could win up to five Senate seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in the upcoming elections.

Speaking on Hum News, Rehman stated that while the opposition appears cohesive, divisions within the ruling PTI government could weaken its position. He criticized the KP administration, calling it a “failure” and highlighting worsening law and order in the province.

“We are not interested in PTI’s internal conflicts, but the provincial government’s poor performance is evident,” he said.

Rehman also dismissed speculation about close ties between JUI and PTI, stating that their previous alliance no longer exists. He refused to comment on PTI’s internal matters, including ticket distribution.

The remarks come amid growing political tensions ahead of the Senate elections, with opposition parties seeking to capitalize on PTI’s perceived weaknesses.
