Opposition leader accuses Chief Minister KP of tourist deaths, demands immediate FIR

Opposition leader Ibad Khan has called for an FIR to be filed against the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the Director General of the Rescue Service.

Speaking at a press conference in Swat, Ibad Khan stated, “It’s not just a disaster; it’s a murder. The tourists could have been saved, but they were disregarded. The Chief Minister is responsible for the loss of lives.”

He pointed out that a helicopter can travel from Peshawar to Swat in just 23 minutes, and not sending a helicopter to assist the victims is an act of criminal negligence.

Ibad Khan questioned why a helicopter was not dispatched for the rescue and demanded accountability for this decision. He mentioned that he had contacted the Speaker to convene a meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly regarding the incident, but the Speaker postponed the meeting that was scheduled for July 1st.

He expressed frustration, saying, “Despite these serious issues, the assembly did not convene, and the government’s indifference is akin to mocking the people, which we will never accept.”

The opposition leader has called for the immediate resignation of the Chief Minister and has urged that legal action be taken against the DG Rescue. He also highlighted the issue of systematic corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, advocating for strict measures to address it without delay.
