ISLAMABAD: In the wake of heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, more than 7,000 Pakistani nationals, comprising students, pilgrims, and travellers, were successfully brought back home from Iran. This major humanitarian operation was led with exceptional coordination and commitment by the Pakistan Army, earning widespread appreciation for its leadership and effectiveness.
Amid growing uncertainty and travel-related threats inside Iran, thousands of stranded Pakistani citizens faced psychological stress and logistical hardships. In response, the Pakistan Army, in collaboration with civil authorities, district administrations, law enforcement agencies, the FIA, and customs, implemented a comprehensive and organised repatriation strategy. Special arrangements were made at the Gwadar border crossing to facilitate their safe return.
To ensure a smooth and dignified return, robust systems were put in place at the border. These included strict security measures, temporary accommodation, medical care, food provisions, and safe transportation for the returning citizens. Streamlined documentation procedures helped expedite the entire process, allowing many to reunite with their families in a short time.
The Gwadar border became a symbol of national unity and compassion during this operation. Soldiers of the Pakistan Army served with dedication and selflessness, assisting fellow citizens in distress. The joy and relief on the faces of returning individuals reflected the success and impact of the coordinated efforts.
This repatriation mission reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment not just to national defence but also to the safety and well-being of its people. In times of crisis, the armed forces continue to play a frontline role in humanitarian efforts, embodying the principle that the protection and service of citizens remain their highest priority.
