PESHAWAR: The repatriation of Afghan refugees and illegal immigrants from various borders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues as 39 Afghan refugees and 861 illegal immigrants were sent to Afghanistan through Torkham border today Tuesday.
Among them 37350 Afghan citizen card holders while 20257 illegal immigrants were sent to Afghanistan through Torkham border. Beside this 29 people were sent to Afghanistan through Angoor Adda border. In total, 57607 people were sent to Afghanistan through Torkham border.
Separately 7474 Afghan national from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2832 from Islamabad, 19196 from Punjab, two from Gilgit, two from Azad Kashmir 1192 and 44 people from Sindh were deported to Afghanistan. Since September 2023, a total of 0.5 million, 48 thousand, 187 people have been sent to Afghanistan from different borders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It is to mentioned here that the process of voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is extremely slow while in other parts of the country the process stopped slightly due to the recent conflict between Pakistan and India.
