Over one lakh medical laboratories across KP found substandard

PESHAWAR: More than one lakh medical laboratories across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the provincial capital Peshawar, are found substandard.

Local media house Mashriq citing sources in the health department, stated in its report that some of these laboratories are the personal property of different doctors and the doctors themselves are giving instructions for tests in the relevant laboratories.

The largest number of laboratories declared substandard are located in Peshawar, followed by Mardan, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Haripur, and southern districts, reports said.

The reports of the above laboratories are different from laboratories of different standards.

The reports further stated that in addition to the lack of relevant experts in these laboratories, tests are conducted by medical technicians.

Laboratories located in various inner areas of provincial capital including Dabgari Garden, Hospital Road, Nasir Bagh Road, Peshawar Board have been identified as substandard.
