RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has ordered the Pakistan Army to provide immediate and full assistance for the rehabilitation of people affected by devastating floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Security sources confirm the Army Chief has directed troops already deployed in KP to actively participate in victim rehabilitation. Additional military personnel are also being sent to bolster relief efforts.
Demonstrating solidarity, the Pakistan Army has pledged one day’s salary from all personnel towards KP flood victims. Additionally, the army has allocated over 600 tons of food rations (equivalent to one day’s supply) for direct distribution in the disaster zones.
To restore critical infrastructure, COAS Munir has urgently tasked the Army’s Corps of Engineers with repairing damaged bridges and constructing temporary bridges where needed to reopen transportation routes.
Specialized rescue units have also been mobilized.
The Army’s Rescue Sniffer Dog Unit has been dispatched for search operations.
The Urban Search and Rescue Team has been sent to the field.
Pakistan Army helicopters and Aviation units are already engaged in ongoing relief operations.
Security sources emphasized that the Pakistan Army stands firmly with the resilient people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in this crisis and is fully committed to supporting them through every hardship.
