The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has confirmed that environmental surveillance for poliovirus is being effectively conducted across Pakistan. Out of 56 samples collected from 44 districts, 22 tested positive for poliovirus, while 34 were negative.
Officials noted significant improvements in controlling the virus following nationwide vaccination campaigns in February and April this year. The April 21-27 drive successfully vaccinated over 45.3 million children.
All regions, including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, achieved 100% coverage in the campaign.

The NEOC announced that the third national polio campaign will take place next month. Parents were urged to continue supporting polio workers and ensure all children under five receive the vaccine in every round. Officials stressed that repeated doses strengthen immunity and provide better protection against the virus.
